SQL Direct Access

SQL Direct Access

Sierra has a built-in ODBC connection (free!) that allows you to access all the tables in your Innovative system via SQL. My library incorporated this feature to validate patrons in its Studyroom reservation system. I will cover the step-by-step directions on how to access patron data and all the other tables available in SierraDNA; demonstrate SQL queries from the listserv and show a small web tool we used to convert barcodes to record numbers; and contrast ODBC connection with the API’s that have been released for Sierra. Presentation is designed for beginners.
