Hi there, new Polaris/Simply reports user. I’m trying to create some reports in Simply reports to pull monthly stats. We group our circ stats by adult fiction, adult nonfiction, etc and within each of those stat groups are several collection codes. I created a item statistical report in Simply reports for checkouts in a particular month for certain collection codes. I saved it. When I go back to My reports and try to edit the report, it says that is not an editing is not allowed for this report type. I’m not sure why it would let me save a report that I’m not allowed to edit later. Is this how stat reports works? This is also happening on a patron statistical report I created. How do I get around this? Is this a quirk of Simply Reports?
Yes, sadly this is a limitation of SimplyReports, you can find more information on editing saved reports here.
What type of changes are you attempting to make? If the changes are simple/straightforward, and you have access to SQL on your system, you (and/or your favorite AI Chatbot) might be able to take the SQL from the saved report and edit it to make your changes. Here is how you can find the SQL for a SimplyReports report.
You could add your idea about editing this type of report to the Idea Exchange: ILS - Polaris: New (503 ideas) – Innovate with us though fair warning Innovative is working on a new reporting system due out in some form later (this year?). So, your idea might be folded into that new product instead of SimplyReports.
Thanks, Wes. We are looking into SQL access and training.
