An electronic forum, like the one you’re reading this message on right now, can help promote communication and collaboration among members, regardless of their location. This helps increase engagement and participation, which leads to a stronger and more connected community.
Although IUG has had a forum for years (decades?), it hasn’t been a part of our bylaws. The IUG Steering Committee is recommending a change to our bylaws to demonstrate our long-term commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive community through an electronic forum.
After the IUG 2023 conference, the Steering Committee will be asking members to vote on the following Bylaws change:
ARTICLE 2. PURPOSE
current
b. foster and improve relationships and communication among members, and between members and Ill; and
proposed
b. foster and improve relationships and communication among members by maintaining an electronic forum and through other networking opportunities; and foster and improve relationships and communication between members and Ill; and
Additionally, we are planning on some tidying up of the bylaws and amendments too. None of the details would change with this revision, but the formatting would. The single document would make it easier to read the bylaws. We don’t have that put together for you to review yet, but we wanted it to be on your radar.
