Over the past 4 years, more than one-third of member public libraries in Western Wisconsin’s MORE consortium have eliminated overdue fines and, in most cases, waived existing fines. This 2021 IUG Virtual Conference session, presented by Lori Roholt and Kathy Setter of the IFLS Library System, covers how consortium staff provided a range of statistics about the potential impact of going fine-free to library decision-makers, and helped to implement the change once approved.
