Developing a consistent and thorough process for collection maintenance is a challenge for all libraries. This session will describe how Sno-Isle Libraries created a data-driven process that is efficient and thorough. The process utilizes librarians’ expertise by remotely reviewing the entire print collection across 24 libraries from reports generated in Polaris. Over the course of the past year staff have reviewed over 500,000 items, working from reports of bibliographic records. We’ll share the strategies we use to evaluate bibliographic records and the automated processes for removal and reassignment of material and what the collected data has shown us regarding our collection.
