Beyond Logos and Links: Using the Encore Header to Add Functionality

The custom header feature in Encore was largely designed to allow a design consistent with the library’s website. With the use of embedded javascript and CSS however, this header can be used to add functionality to Encore and manipulate the display even outside the header. This presentation will provide background on why this is a valuable tool, examine how the header can be used for these purposes, and give examples of how Encore can be enhanced. Consortia and multi-branch libraries may be particularly interested in how the header can be used to add persistent location limiters.
