Hi Jessica,
I also sent this to your question posted on the Sierra listserv.
Yes, we set this up and it’s working out well for the most part. The only exception would be when we get extra copies of titles we already have in our system and the OCLC record overwrites ours which was customized, and what we do in those cases is before we load into Sierra, we remove, via MARCEdit, those individual records from the file we downloaded from OCLC prior to loading in Sierra.
I have a load table specifically for the Ingram partner cataloging records (see attached). I think it was just a slight tweak of our existing Ingram table we use when we initially load the order and bib is created. The OCLC partner version is loaded and overlays the bib with the full OCLC record.
In Collection Manager, I have our institution settings being used by the partner (in this case Ingram).
I created 2 collections for Ingram – our normal orders, which come with some processing (collection ID is that Ingram account) and then another for unprocessed, when we have rush orders (under a separate Ingram collection ID). Basically everything in the collection setting is the same except the Account Number and Collection ID number (they are both the same in each case, but a number for processed, a number for unprocessed).
For Maintain WorldCat Holdings, MARC Records for these, we use Institution setting (yes - maintain holdings). Labels, Dewey Call Numbers and Collection History are not enabled/used, in our case.
I attached our institution settings for MARC records as an example – Customize Records tab and Record Delivery tabs. For the others - WorldCat Updates tab we have set to None, Cataloging Partner Options we just have “No” set for “Deliver PDRs if No WorldCat Record is Delivered and nothing set for TSV settings. I guess I should ask our cataloging staff if I need to do anything with that tab…
You’re going to have to work with Ingram (Kevin.Davenport@ingramcontent.com) and OCLC (I just opened a ticket in the OCLC ZenDesk support) to get this going, at least we did. It took maybe a week or two to actually start working, but this was when Ingram was under water after the initial B&T rush.
I have it set so that staff gets an email (this is under Institution Settings > Reports) when the records are ready to download from Collection Manager.
HTH,
Alison
