Yes, I know that registration for IUG 2027 doesn’t even open for a few months yet, & like many members of IUG & other users of III products, I’m excited for what might be shared as we get together in Boston next spring.
I hope you’ll excuse my pre-dawn enthusiasm. A tornado whipped through my neighborhood Tuesday afternoon & I’ve been without internet & electricity since, but I’m also already thinking about 2028, which will mark Innovative’s 50th year as a company.
How fun would it be if they could put together a mobile museum to mark the anniversary? Something that they could bring along to IUG, ALA, & other events, to celebrate their decades of innovation in the library industry. OK, “fun” might not be the right word, but it could certainly prove an interesting diversion as conference attendees gather in an exhibit hall for a snack between sessions.
Chances are, 2028’s IUG conference will be on or near the west coast, so they wouldn’t even have to haul it that far. And perhaps they could work with IUG member libraries who might have artifacts of their own to contribute to the display? Anyone still have Millennium up & running?
Imagine a display showing a timeline of the company’s creation & growth, with whatever artifacts they can pull from some dusty storage closet? I know for a fact I’ve used one of these keyboards & may have even rescued one from the trash at NYPL & stored it myself somewhere. In a pinch, they could even get a loaner from NYC’s Met Museum!
