We’re migrating from Sierra to Polaris. I finally hit my stride with understanding the ins and outs of complicated consortial lending in Sierra and now need to shift to understanding how to set up lending for Polaris. We have members who charge fines and who don’t, or who only charge fines on certain items, or don’t if it’s a full moon and there are at least 3 wolves howling…maybe just kidding on the last one.
Does anyone have recommendations on resources, presentations, etc. that would be helpful for guidance on setting up material codes in Polaris? Do you have advice on any special considerations for it? I do know we’re going to have to standardize and streamline things as it won’t work to bring our complicated setup from Sierra in (let’s not get into how many lines are in the LRDT or how many loan rules we have right now).
I did look through the Polaris information on the Clarivate Libguides site but it wasn’t offering what I needed.
Since 2009 we’ve used the combination of Transacting & Lending library, which means the rules set up for the CKO library are the ones that are followed.
And you should make the setting for who sends out the notices consistent as well. We use the patron’s registered library so they only get ONE lost notice.
