Anyone else successfully configured Recommended Reads on a Bibliotheca selfcheck with Polaris? We just transitioned from SirsiDynix Symphony to Polaris and are having trouble getting “Recommended Reads” from Novelist to work correctly. The list of recommended items shows on the selfcheck machine based on what the user is checking out, but when trying to place a hold, this error occurs: “Hold Request Failure: Unable to place a hold at this time. Please try again or ask staff for assistance.” Sips logs say the account has a blocks, but the account doesn’t have a block. Anyone overcome this issue?
Could you post the relevant portion of the 3M SIP log with patron identifying details redacted?
The SIP server has a whole slew of settings that might prevent an action that would typically be allowed by the staff in Leap. If you’ve changed any of them, make sure you restart the SIP Server service to pickup the changes.
The SIP server install is included in the desktop client install options, so if needed you could install the SIP Server on another machine that would allow you to restart it as needed for testing changes without having an impact on the SIP server that is actively being used.
