Hi,
We are currently using WorldShare Interlibrary Loan and considering migrating to Tipasa. Our ILS is Polaris. I am reaching out to get anyone’s experience who is using Tipasa and what your authentication experience has been, what authentication method you are using, and overall experience (user/tech) has been. I appreciate it!
I don’t see any “out of the box” Polaris supported method listed here: Authentication methods and patron data load - OCLC Support
According to the documentation, using anything other than Basic WorldShare authentication is going to require an intermediary layer between the Polaris ILS and Tipasa.
Yeah we’re leaning toward using Basic WorldShare authentication and would like to hear others experience if that is what they chose to use with Tipasa but also anyone who has used it with EZproxy or any other methods with Tipasa. We have pretty strict patron privacy laws that restrict what we can share with OCLC. We are also curious about others experience with patron load and basic authentication.
Then I hope you don’t have to use 3M SIP2 anywhere, since there is basically zero you can do within Polaris to limit what someone can pull on a patron record, and all the data is in the clear unless you wrap it in a TLS tunnel (which requires the vendor to be willing to do the same).
