Polaris - Address Data Validation

Hi!

Does anyone use an address validation plug-in or software with Polaris for library card applications? So, like something where it will autocomplete addresses with correct formatting (like things you see with websites or when you are ordering something)? Or, a scan program where we could scan IDs and have the info autopopulate?

Thank you!

We have DataLogic Quickscan QD2590 2D Scanners purchased from Bayscan Technologies that can be programmed to read the barcode from a driver’s license and populate the fields in either Leap or the Polaris client (but not both). Bayscan will work out the programming based on your unique patron form.

So does your staff use it in Leap more or does it vary by location?

Do you have scanners programmed for both Leap and Staff Client at each Library?

It has been a while since we tried a demo of these scanners and they had an issue with one of our UDF fiellds at that time. Other than that it was amazing…

We moved our front desk circ staff to Leap exclusively about two years ago and reprogrammed all the scanners accordingly. The client is still there, and those who insist on using it log into both and know to register cards in Leap.

We don’t populate any UDFs with data from the license. The couple that we have are completed manually.

We use the address verification from Smarty on our Drupal site via the Smarty module (https://www.drupal.org/project/smartystreets). We use this to verify if a customer’s address is within our coverage area. We then use the Polaris API to register the customer if they pass all of our validation checks.
