P04 Assess to Impress: Using Polaris Data to Curate a User-Driven Collection

The collection assessment tool developed at Boise Public Library is a scalable method that allows libraries (consortia or stand-alone locations) to analyze their collections at the item-use level using existing statistics available in Polaris. This assessment method highlights successes, reveals areas in need of attention, and allows for concrete goal-setting. Tully Gerlach, Collection Development Librarian, will demonstrate how the tool was developed, explain what data points were chosen, and how readily available software was used to create a robust picture of the health and activity of each collection.
