Job Summary

An ODIN Technical Support Specialist provides technical support to member libraries in Alma and Polaris through consultation, investigation, and resolution. Collaborates with library staff and ODIN colleagues to monitor system performance, carry out quality assurance for system upgrades, maintain database integrity, and coordinate data migrations along with other tasks. Reports issues to vendors and seeks specialized support when necessary. Creates and delivers informational sessions, provides workflow assistance, and produces training documentation.

Supports member libraries with the management, import, export, creation, and deletion of authority, bibliographic, holding, and item metadata records. Assists with the creation of import profiles, bulk changes, running jobs, and creating reports. Resolves access issues to electronic resources in Discovery and Search and conducts maintenance on the bibliographic database for both systems.

Facilitates Alma Resource Management, Polaris Cataloging, and Alma/Polaris Acquisitions user groups by scheduling meetings, updating information on the ODIN website, and utilizing the corresponding listservs to keep members informed. Coordinates with each user group Chair to prepare agendas and lead discussions.

The Online Dakota Information Network (ODIN), a subdivision of the North Dakota University System Core Technology Services (NDUS CTS), supports the technology needs of libraries across the Dakotas. ODIN provides systems support to a multi-type consortium of libraries on two ILS (Alma and Polaris), while also delivering additional services to all participating libraries, including e‑resource purchasing and access, and resource sharing.
