The Auraria Library is located on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, Colorado and is administered by the University of Colorado Denver. The Library serves 45,000 students from three institutions of higher education on the Auraria Campus – University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Community College of Denver. The Library welcomes over 900,000 visitors each year.
Overview
The Scholarly Research Services Program Lead Librarian leads the Auraria Library’s efforts to support the research mission of the Auraria Campus. This position provides leadership for areas related to the library’s research assistance role such as scholarly communication, data support and literacy, citation management, research consultations, and research recognition and promotion.
As the Scholarly Research Services unit is newly formed, the Scholarly Research Services Program Lead Librarian will have the opportunity to develop the unit to meet the growing strategic importance of scholarly research on the Auraria Campus. In addition, the Scholarly Research Services Program Lead Librarian leads a cross-departmental team responsible for delivery of the library’s existing desk, chat, and consultation reference and research help services and participates in the development and assessment of cross-departmental public services. The Scholarly Research Services Program Lead Librarian is an engaged, skillful communicator who continually monitors the research landscape for innovative new tools and methods while using quantitative and qualitative data about Auraria Campus research to inform planning and development of the program.
As a Library faculty member, the librarian participates on Library and campus-wide committees and in CU Denver faculty governance. This position engages in supporting the research mission of the Auraria Library and the three institutions on the Auraria Campus – the University of Colorado Denver, the Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Community College of Denver. This position is in the Research, Learning, and User Services Division of the Library and reports to the Teaching and Learning Department Head.

Leadership in Research Support
· Supervises the unit responsible for offering services related to the library’s research support role such as scholarly communication, data support and literacy, citation management, and research recognition and promotion.
· *Leads a cross-departmental team responsible for developing and delivering research help services to support student and faculty research and reference needs.
· *Leads development of a programmatic approach to providing scholarly research services.
· *Responsible for reference and research services-related processes including the consultation, desk, and chat scheduling processes, internal and external communications, and statistical analysis and reporting.
· *Recommends acquisition or allocation of tools/resources for the Scholarly Research Services unit and the Research Help Team and coordinates necessary training of those tools/resources.
· *Actively promotes an environment of continual improvement by leading, planning, and implementing ongoing learning, information sharing, and professional development opportunities related to reference and research services including best practices, tools, and available resources.
· *Working in collaboration with the Special and Digital Collections Program Lead, oversees the management of the institutional repository portion of the library’s digital collections to include leadership in the development of policies, workflows, and promotion.
· *Leads library effort related to Open Educational Resources.
Research Support
· Develops and maintains record of the research activities being conducted on campus in order to identify strategies for the library to support that work.
· Liaises with campus faculty development centers, research offices, target populations, and other campus and external partners to create programming and services to support the research missions of the three institutions.
· Participates in research consultations (face-to-face and online) to undergraduate and graduate students.
· Participates in the Ask Us Desk and Ask Us chat research help services.
Assessment
· *Responsible for ongoing assessment of the scholarly research services program and the development of new strategies based on this work.
Other
· *As one of two program lead positions in the department, collaborates to manage departmental projects.
· *Communicates with clarity and transparency to internal and external stakeholders.
· *Collaborates with research offices to support the research mission of the three institutions.
· Collaborates with other library units and teams to develop services as needed.
· Serves on the Service Point Operations Team to coordinate and improve the library’s integrated service points.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Participates on Library and campus-wide committees and CU Denver faculty governance.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, or equivalent advanced degree.
· Two or more years of experience in at least one of the following areas: scholarly communications, data support and literacy, citation management, open educational resources, and research recognition and promotion.
· Two or more years of experience providing reference/research help at a service desk, via chat, and through consultations, including providing these services to an undergraduate population.
· Demonstrated competence and sensitivity in working with individuals who are highly diverse in many facets of identity.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience leading a research services program in an academic or research library.
· Supervisory experience in an academic or research library.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends in library research services including literature reviews, scholarly communications, data support, data literacy, and tools associated with these functions.
· Ability to work well both independently and in a collaborative environment and to contribute to professional service.
· Ability to create an exciting, future-oriented research services program.
· Ability to manage projects, including events.
· Knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends that affect academic libraries and higher education.
· Effective interpersonal and written communication skills plus a demonstrated commitment to professional development/achievement.
Salary and Benefits:
· The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $65,000-$70,000/year
· The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
· The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
· This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
