Holds Management in Transition
Are public libraries turning into web stores and logistics centers? In 2015, visits on the Helmet Catalog increased 9.4 % and number of holds placed 15.2 %. This session will discuss how we handle 2.5 million holds and 16 million checkouts yearly, using Title Priority Paging and (partly) Floating Collections. Topics include Hold set-up and Holdshelf management in Sierra, and recent workflow changes in libraries, e.g. managing holds without slips. I will focus on Sierra, but the workflow challenges may be of general interest.
