Hello! We are in the process of setting up Polaris (yay!), and I just had a general question - is there a way to set up Circulation functions so that when a lost item is returned, it only charges late fines as a specific percentage of the total replacement cost? I remember at my old library that this was calculated automatically, so when it was returned, the late fines always equaled 50% of the replacement cost of the item or less. Thank you!
There is no automated* support only charging a portion of the overdue fines. The supported automated options are shown here and depend on if it was just lost or if it was lost & paid: Polaris Staff Client Help
*Note: You could always select to leave the fines on the account and then instruct staff to manually waive a portion of them.
