Delaying hold notifications?

Is there a way to delay hold pickup notifications by a few hours? Sometimes patrons get the notification before we’ve been able to actually get the material on the holdshelf.

You can change the timing of when the SQL notice job runs, but you can NOT within Polaris say, “Wait at least 3 hours after the CKI time before sending the notice.”

It is possible that some 3rd party notice platforms like MessageBee or Vega LX might be able to do something like that.

We decided to only send out our LX Starter notices at 1:00 pm each day. Previously we were sending them every hour. Our staff our happier now because they have time in the morning to pull any holds that arrived overnight. However we are constantly getting emails from patrons who get the notice at 1:00 telling us that they already picked up the item. We have a lot of patrons who use our app so they see right away if they have a hold to be picked up. So it’s a 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other situation. We added a line to the notice to say please disregard if you’ve already picked up your item, but they still respond that they already picked up the item.

In “regular” Polaris notice world, that notice would have been removed from the queue at CKO and would not be sent. I wonder if that queue removal is some sort of enhancement that needs to be extended to the LX Starter world?

But our members do have patrons that don’t read their email until after they pick up the hold. So, when the notice was sent they hadn’t picked up the hold, but by the time they read it, it had been picked up.
