I’ve got most of the major remaining functionality issues ironed out and the documentation fixed up a bit so this is probably about ready for other folks to start tinkering with if they want. There are certainly still some odd things here and there with the navigation flow and overall user experience, but we plan to push the tool out more heavily to our local library staff late this week or next, so hopefully with their help we’ll tighten all that up.
It currently requires direct SQL access to the Polaris database to perform the actual merging but we’ve got an idealab idea out there to add a bib merge method to PAPI, which would allow the tool to work for hosted libraries as well: Add PAPI method to merge bibliographic records – Innovate with us
