Bulk delete text from notes

Hi all,

I have a record set where I would like to bulk delete some text from one of the notes fields. I must be missing something. In Bulk Change I can see that I can append, prepend or replace, but how do I just delete certain text from the field and not just replace the whole field with nothing when there is other text I need to keep?

Thanks.

I assume you’re referring to wanting to do this in item records, but I think that this is pretty universal across Polaris’ bulk change framework - sadly, it just isn’t possible.

I would encourage you to vote & comment on this Idea Exchange idea.

PS For item records would be possible if you have read/write SQL access to your underlying Polaris database. You should approach it with caution, but item records are pretty straightforward in terms of their database structure. I would always recommend using a transaction when performing any sort of data updates.

Thanks, Wes. I’ve voted on the idea. Yeah I don’t think we’re up to messing with the Polaris database. Would this be something I could submit a ticket to Innovative for though? Thanks.

Always worth an asking.

I said this to someone earlier. Although Idea Exchange should always be someone’s first stop for a new feature and MEEP is the only guaranteed way I know of to get something added to the product, requesting (or reporting) something through support is also another good signal that Innovative can use for deciding what new features to build.

Don’t forget to comment too. Commenting with specific use cases can help boost the visibility of the idea and make sure that if it does get incorporated into the product, that the feature can do the task you need for your library.
