I am not sure how it works if the library uses security tags. 13:04:51 From Alison Pruntel to Everyone: We (Sierra) have no self checks at this point (no space), but plan on getting them when we get any additional branches or an upgrade to existing branches. If ExpressLane is out of date/not worthy (?), I too would like to hear any recommendations. I am ambivalent about managing our own hardware. 13:05:10 From Jeff Campbell (he, him) to Everyone: We use MeeScan. I'll talk about it in a few. 13:05:38 From Alison Pruntel to Everyone: We have the Solus/III mobile app, too, and wanted to try that for self-check (tested and it worked), just haven't gotten around to it. 13:05:52 From Victor Zuniga to Everyone: Reacted to "We have the Solus/II..." with 👍 13:06:09 From Wes Osborn - CLC to Everyone: Photo from Stephanie of the 24/7 station from Envisionware 13:06:22 From Dena Porter-Illinois Heartland Library System to Everyone: Reacted to "Screenshot2024_03_21_130548.jpg" with ❤️ 13:06:31 From Victor Zuniga to Everyone: Replying to "We have the Solus/II..." I'm working on our Solus III/App setup (haven't launched yet), but I've been having issues with getting the self-checkout to work. 13:09:25 From IUG Steering Committee to Everyone: SECURITY. 13:09:26 From IUG Steering Committee to Everyone: Ha! 13:09:31 From Kayla Payne to Everyone: We have ELO machines running ExpressLane. Contemplating migrating to micro computers with touchscreens. We would need a full scale RFP for our 8 branches (16 self checks total) if we were to move to another vendor for an all in one self check machine. We are not an RFID library and have no plans to implement RFID 13:09:41 From Jessica Trenary, MARINet (she/her) to Everyone: We have BiblioCommons Checkout. Patrons can use the BiblioCommons app on their phones (iPhone and Android) to check their items out. The camera finds the barcode and checks it out for the patron. What happens if a checkout fails? 13:20:28 From Bob Gaydos to Everyone: On the subject of lockers, see my Sierra listserv post dated March 6, 2024 12:09 PM for my Rube Goldberg solution to holds placed for pickup from lockers when the items are not suitable for pickup from lockers, such as large items and/or Library of Things items which require an ID. It would be adaptable to Polaris if the Polaris API allows you to change the pickup location of a hold while it is still a bib hold. And if the API doesn't allow this, well shame on it! 13:21:50 From Alison Pruntel to Everyone: Replying to "Our NovelBranch is a..." If the card is expired, etc., the locker won't open. Discover payments are not set up through Polaris SA (which only offers one option for payment gateway). 13:56:58 From IUG Steering Committee to Everyone: Man... We are the lowest of the low when it comes to patron address verification... New accounts are put into a record set and staff inspect these daily during desk shifts. They dump the address into a search field that we built that compares the address to BS&A databases and confirms which city they actually pay taxes to. Our area is VERY confusing and even drivers licenses are often wrong. 13:57:21 From IUG Steering Committee to Everyone: so I guess the search box testing against three cities taxes is "automated" ;) lol 13:57:29 From Katie LeBlanc - CMPL to Everyone: Replying to "Topic change, is any..."
